Cardinals Promote LB Thurston Armbrister, Re-Sign QB Chad Kanoff To PS

The Arizona Cardinals officially promoted LB Thurston Armbrister to their active roster on Friday and signed QB Chad Kanoff to their practice squad.

Here’s the Cardinals updated practice squad:

  1. C Coleman Shelton
  2. RB Brandon Wilds
  3. DB Deatrick Nichols
  4. TE Gabe Holmes
  5. OT Rick Leonard
  6. WR Montay Crockett
  7. OLB Vontarrius Dora
  8. WR Jalen Tolliver
  9. CB Chris Jones
  10. QB Chad Kanoff

Armbrister, 25, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of 2015. He was able to crack Jacksonville’s active roster and played out a full year with the team before being waived.

Armbrister was on and off of the Lions’ practice squad last year before eventually signing on with the Giants this past January. New York waived him last month and he recently signed on to the Cardinals’ practice squad.

In 2016, Armbrister appeared in 14 games for the Lions and recorded 15 total tackles.

Kanoff, 24, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Princeton back in May. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Cardinals, but was waived coming out of the preseason.

The Cardinals later signed Kanoff to their practice squad before being promoted last week.

During his college career at Princeton, Kanoff threw for 7,510 yards while completing 64.5 percent of his passes to go along with 43 touchdowns and 22 interceptions over the course of 34 games. He also rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown.
