Cardinals Officially Sign LB Karlos Dansby & K Phil Dawson

Update:

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they’ve officially signed LB Karlos Dansby and K Phil Dawson to contracts, as was reported last night.

The Cardinals elected to not tender a contract to restricted free agent K Chandler Catanzaro.

Dawson, 42, has played 18 seasons in the NFL including 14 with the Browns and the past four years with the 49ers. He was among the best available kickers in this year’s market.

In 2016, Dawson appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and converted 18 of 21 field goal attempts to go along with 33 of 34 extra point tries.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals have reached an agreement with veteran LB Karlos Dansby, pending a physical.

Dansby, 35, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2004. He spent six years in Arizona before departing for a free agent deal with the Dolphins. After four years with the Dolphins, Dansby returned to the Cardinals for the 2013 season before once again leaving for a free agent deal, this time with the Browns.

Last year, the Bengals signed him to a one-year deal.

In 2016, Dansby appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 114 tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery and six pass defenses.
