Chargers Promote OT Tyreek Burwell, Waive LB Deon King

The San Diego Chargers have promoted OT Tyreek Burwell to their active roster and waived LB Deon King on Monday, according to Michael Gehlken.

Burwell, 24, wound up signing on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati back in May of last year. He was waived a week into the regular season and later added to their practice squad before eventually being promoted to the Chargers’ active roster.

San Diego elected to cut Burwell loose a few weeks ago and later added him to their practice squad.

In 2016, Burwell has been active for three games.

King, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out oof Norfolk State back in May. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad a day later.

The Chargers signed him to their practice squad before recently calling him up.

During his college career, King recorded 372 tackles, 52.5 tackles for a loss, 22 sacks, four forced fumbles, five recoveries and six pass defenses
