Sources close to Colts HC Chuck Pagano tell Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that he expects to be relieved of his duties after the season.

Multiple reports have said for a while now that Pagano was likely out in Indianapolis after the season, so this isn’t much of a surprise.

La Canfora points out Colts GM Chris Ballard has strong ties to two members of the Chiefs’ coaching staff, given the time he spent in Kansas City before departing this past January, including special teams coordinator Dave Toub and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.

Although, La Canfora says that Colts owner Jim Irsay may try to lure a big-name head coach to Indianapolis to get the franchise back on track and sell some tickets while QB Andrew Luck works his way back from shoulder surgery. While that could be Irsay’s plan, La Canfora adds that his ability to land a top-tier head coaching candidate is in question, given the uncertainty of Luck’s shoulder.

Ian Rapoport confirms that Toub and Nagy are two names to watch along with Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.

Yesterday, Mike Silver of NFL Media reported that Seahawks OL coach Tom Cable is expected to get serious consideration from the Colts (NFLTR).

Pagano, 57, was hired by the Colts back in 2012. During his six years in Indianapolis, Pagano led the team to a record of 52-43 (54.7 percent) and three playoff appearances including a championship appearance in 2014.

We’ll have more regarding the Colts as the news is available.
