Chiefs Sign WR Mark Harrison, Three Others After Workouts

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs have signed four tryout players: WR Mark Harrison, CB Kip Edwards, CB Quinton Byrd and WR Cole Stanford.

Harrison is the most interesting of the bunch.  He spent the 2013 season on the non-football injury list for the Patriots, but he possesses an intriguing size and speed combination.  The 6’3, 230 pound Rutgers product has great straight-line speed, so most physical attributes are present.

Cole Stanford, an undrafted free agent out of Cal Poly, previously had a tryout with the Packers, but never signed there.

With the Chiefs lack of depth in their receiving corps, Harrison has an opportunity to make the team if he can beat out A.J. Jenkins, Junior Hemingway and Frankie Hammond Jr, three unproven players.  Stanford is likely a camp body.

Edwards, 24, spent the 2013 season on the Vikings practice squad but was never promoted.  He was cut earlier this month.

Byrd was an undrafted free agent out of Utah State.  He recorded 97 tackles in 52 career games.
