Colts Interested In Re-Signing K Adam Vinatieri

According to Mike Chappell, the Indianapolis Colts are interested in re-signing veteran K Adam Vinatieri.

On Sunday, Vinatieri told reporters that if the team wants him back next year, “[he] can’t imagine (I’d) not keep playing.”

If they’re wanting, I can’t imagine (I’d) not keep playing, you know?” Vinatieri said, via the Indy Star. “I haven’t made the decision yet. I’ll spend a week or two and just kind of see where we’re at.”

Even so, Vinatieri says he plans to take some time to make a decision.

“I never want to make a decision on a day like today, one way or another,” Vinatieri said. “That’s emotional. You’re not thinking through stuff.

Colts GM Chris Ballard mentioned that he plans to meet with Vinatieri on Tuesday.

Vinatieri, 46, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State back in 1996. He played seven years in New England before signing on with the Colts in 2006.

Since then, Vinatieri has played another 13 years in Indianapolis and is in position to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2018, Vinatieri appeared in 16 games for the Colts and converted 23 of 27 field goal attempts (85.2 percent) to go along with 44 of 47 extra point tries (93.6 percent).
