Bengals Signing WR Brandon LaFell

According to Adam Schefter, the Bengals and WR Brandon LaFell have reached an agreement.

The parties were reportedly close to a deal last week, so it appears as though they’ve managed to hammer out the details of an agreement for him to join the Bengals.

Cincinnati could really use some receiver depth after Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu both departed for big contracts with the Lions and Falcons respectively.

It’s worth mentioning that signing LaFell to a contract won’t factor into the Bengals’ 2017 compensatory picks.

LaFell, 29, was in the final year of his three-year, $9 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $2.4 million for the 2016 season when the Patriots cut him loose less than a week before the start of free agency.

In 2015, LaFell appeared in 11 games for the Patriots and recorded 37 receptions for 515 yards receiving and and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 119 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
