Dolphins Claim DB Trae Elston, Place S Michael Thomas

The Miami Dolphins announced that they’ve claimed DB Trae Elston off of waivers from the Bills and placed Michael Thomas on injured reserve on Friday.

Elston, 23, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss back in May of last year. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason but later signed on to the Buccaneers’ practice squad.

The Buccaneers would cut him loose a month later and he eventually caught on with the Browns towards the end of the year. Cleveland brought Elston back on a future/reserve contract this past January but he was waived shortly before the draft and claimed off of waivers by the Bills.

Buffalo cut him loose a few weeks ago and he was claimed off waivers by the Eagles. Unfortunately, he lasted just a week in Philadelphia before he was waived. The Bills signed him to a contract this past October before waiving him on Thursday.

In 2017, Elston has been active for two games but has yet to record a statistic.
