Dolphins To Sign G Kraig Urbik

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that the Dolphins have agreed to terms with former Bills G Kraig Urbik on Tuesday.

Last night, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that the Dolphins were bringing in Urbik for a visit in the coming days with the intention of signing him to a contract, as long as everything checked out.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Urbik to a contract won’t factor into the Dolphins’ 2017 compensatory picks, which is important for them, given that this has been a big consideration for Miami this offseason.

Urbik, 30, was entering the final year of his five-year, $14.6 million contract that included a $3.5 million signing bonus when was released in a move that freed up $1,775 million in available cap space for the Bills.

Urbik was among the best guards still available in free agent, and could end up being a decent depth addition for the Dolphins.

In 2015, Urbik appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and was rated by Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
