Eagles Place QB Carson Wentz On Injured Reserve

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday that they’ve officially placed QB Carson Wentz on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

According to Eagles HC Doug Pederson, the belief is that Wentz actually tore his ACL on the step before being contacted in the end zone.

Wentz managed to stay in the game and still throw a touchdown to Alshon Jeffery a few plays later, despite the injury.

This is terrible news for Wentz, the Eagles and their fans, as Philadephia has been the best team in the NFL this year and Wentz was a clear MVP candidate. To matters worse, ACL tears typically require a 9-12 month recovery period, which means Wentz could be cutting close in regards to being ready in time for the 2018 season.

Wentz, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Eagles back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $26.7 million contract that included a $16.7 million signing bonus.

Wentz stands to make base salaries of $2.87 million and $4.08 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Wentz appeared in 13 games for the Eagles and threw for 3,296 yards while completing 60.2 percent of his passes to go along with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 299 yards.
