Falcons Interested In Veteran LB A.J. Hawk

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Falcons are showing interest in veteran LB A.J. Hawk, as they continue to deal with injuries at the position.

Hawk worked out for the Dolphins a few weeks ago but did not receive an offer from the team.

He previously mentioned in an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he would “definitely” like to play this season. However, Hawk added that it would have to be “the right situation” and with “a team that can win.”

Hawk, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2006. After nine years in Green Bay, Hawk signed two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Bengals last year and was set to make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2016 season.

However, the Bengals elected to move on and released him in a move that cleared $1.4 million in available cap space.

In 2015, Hawk appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 24 tackles and sack. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 52 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.
