Jaguars Cut QB David Garrard, Baltimore Next Stop?

ESPN’s John Clayton speculates that the Baltimore Ravens could be a possibility for Garrard following his release from the team.

Other speculative options could include: Carolina Panthers,Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.

FoxSports’ Jay Glazer reports that the Jacksonville Jagaurs have made the decision to release starting QB David Garrard just days before the start of the 2011 season.

Glazer mentions that Luke McCown will take over as the teams starting quarterback with Blaine Gabbert as the backup.

This is a rather curious move for the Jaguars as they’re so close to the start of the season. It’s hard to imagine that Luke McCown will be able to win any more games than Garrard would have and Gabbert isn’t ready to take over just yet. Head coach Jack Del Rio knows that his job could very well be on the line this season so I guess you have to commend him for making such a bold decision with everything possibly at stake.

    • Cincinnati appears to be willing to head into the upcoming season with only Andy Dalton and Bruce Gradkowski at quarterback as they released Dan LeFevour earlier in the day.

I with you though. It’s hard to imagine them winning many games this year and Garrard would give them their shot at competing but then again he probably wouldn’t even make them relevant.
