Jaguars Decline LT Kelvin Beachum’s Option

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars are picking up LT Kelvin Beachum‘s option, which will make him a free agent.

Today was the deadline for the Jaguars to exercise their option on Beachum, but they would have had to make him a $5 million payment had they picked it up. Beachum would have had his $7.5 million (2017) and $8.5 million (2018) base salaries fully guaranteed as well.

Beachum joins Ryan Clady as left tackles who will reach the open market.

Beachum, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers back in 2012. He played four years for the Steelers before signing a one-year, $4.5 million contract that included a four-year, $35 million option with the Jaguars as a free agent last year.

In 2016, Beachum appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 63 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
