Jaguars Would Like To Re-Sign DE Tyson Alualu, Will Meet At Combine

Jaguars GM David Caldwell told reporters on Tuesday that they would like to re-sign DE Tyson Alualu in the coming weeks and have communicated as much to his agent, per Ryan O’Halloran.

However, Caldwell added that he isn’t sure if they will be able to get a deal in place before the start of free agency on March 10.

Jacksonville expects to meet with the agents for free agents Alualu, CB Alan Ball, LB J.T. Thomas, and WR Cecil Shorts at the Scouting Combine this week.

Alualu, 27, was a surprising selection for the Jaguars back in 2010 when they used the No. 10 overall pick on him coming out of California.

Alualu has proven to be very durable over the course of his five-year career as he’s yet to miss a single game.

In 2014, he recorded 30 tackles and two sacks over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 50 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players, which is due in large part to a poor rating as a pass rusher.
