Eagles Not Picking Up OL Stefen Wisniewski’s Option, Jets May Have Interest

Mike Garafolo reports that the Eagles are not activating OL Stefen Wisniewski‘s contract option for the 2019 season, making him a free agent.

Garafolo adds that he has “heard rumblings” that the Jets may be interested in signing him.

Wisniewski, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2011. He spent four years in Oakland before signing on with the Eagles in 2016.

Wisniewski was entering the final year of his three-year, $9 million contract and was set to make $3 million next season.

According to OverTheCap.com, cutting him creates $3 million in cap space while creating $708,334 in dead money.

In 2018, Wisniewski appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 58 overall guard out 77 qualifying players.
