Jets Place Rookie WR Devin Smith On Season-Ending I.R. & Promote LB Taiwan Jones

The New York Jets announced Friday that they’ve placed rookie WR Devin Smith on season-ending injured reserve and promoted LB Taiwan Jones to their active roster.

Smith suffered a torn ACL during the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the Titans. Jets HC Todd Bowles was headed to the injured injured reserve list earlier in the week, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Smith, 23, is in the first year of his four-year, $5.872 million rookie contract that includes $3.667 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $435,000 this season and another $525,000 in 2016.

Smith appeared in 10 games and caught nine passes for 115 yards receiving and one touchdown over the Jets.
