LeSean McCoy Reporting For Start Of Bills’ Training Camp

Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo are reporting that Bills RB LeSean McCoy is reporting for the start of Bills’ training camp on Wednesday when veterans are required to show up.

According to Rapoport, unless something changes with McCoy’s status with the league, the Bills are expected to treat him like any other player.

The lawyer for McCoy’s ex-girlfriend recently told the Buffalo News that her client “believes very strongly” McCoy “had some involvement” in the home invasion and assault that occurred July 10.

“She absolutely thinks Mr. McCoy had something to do with it,” Tanya Mitchell Graham said. “She believes anyone else involved was likely contacted by someone else on behalf of Mr. McCoy.

Graham specifically mentioned that she wanted to clarify her comments from last week in which some felt as though she and her client may be backtracking from their assertion that McCoy was involved in some way.

I mentioned that I had a conversation with our client about the ‘criminal burden of proof,’ which is a higher standard than a civil burden of proof, and ‘probable cause’ – legal terms,” Graham said. “At this time, there is circumstantial evidence, which is not significant enough probable cause for an arrest; so, I said you can’t blame Mr. McCoy without additional evidence.

“This matter is under investigation, and we should allow the City of Milton Police and their detectives to do their job. I think either the way I said that, or the way it was interpreted caused some confusion to suggest that my client was backtracking. She is not. I was just trying to explain the legalities of the incident.”

McCoy, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2009. After six years in Philadelphia, McCoy was traded to the Bills, who later signed him to a five-year, $40 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.

McCoy stands to make base salaries of $6 million and $6.075 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, McCoy appeared in 16 games for the Bills and rushed for 1,138 yards on 287 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 59 receptions for 448 yards receiving and 8 total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 running back out of 57 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding McCoy as the news is available.
