Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Lions QB Matthew Stafford is preparing to play on Sunday against the Titans, despite the rib injury he suffered last week.
Reports from earlier in the week had said that Stafford’s status was in doubt. However, the team appeared to be keeping the door open for him to return.
Chase Daniel would get the start if Stafford is out.
Stafford, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2009. He was in the final year of his five-year, $76.5 million contract when he and the Lions agreed to a five-year, $135 million extension back in 2017.
Stafford stands to make base salaries of $15 million and $9.5 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2020, Stafford has appeared in 13 games for the Lions and completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 3,522 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has also 91 rushing yards.
