Lions Release RB Donnel Pumphrey From PS, Sign TE Jerome Cunningham

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that they’ve signed TE Jerome Cunningham to their practice squad and released RB Donnel Pumphrey from the unit.

The Lions’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. CB Mike Ford
  2. WR Chris Lacy
  3. QB Jake Rudock
  4. DT John Atkins
  5. CB Cre’Von LeBlanc
  6. DE Eric Lee
  7. LB Trevor Bates
  8. C Leo Koloamatangi
  9. G Jamil Demby
  10. TE Jerome Cunningham

Pumphrey, 23, was taken in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2.97 million contract with the Eagles and was set to make a base salary of $555,000 for the 2018 season when the Eagles waived him coming out of the preseason.

The Lions later signed Pumphrey to their practice squad.

Pumphrey was placed on the Eagles’ injured reserve in September of last year due to a hamstring injury and missed all of 2017. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his four years at San Diego State, Pumphrey rushed for 6,405 yards on 1,059 attempts (6.0 YPC) and 62 touchdowns. He also caught 99 receptions for 1,039 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
