Lions Signing TE Orson Charles

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Lions are signing TE Orson Charles following his minicamp tryout.

The Lions will need to free up a roster spot for Charles, which could mean LB Stephen Tulloch will finally be released.

Charles, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2012. He lasted just over two years in Cincinnati before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season.

Charles later signed to the Titans’ practice squad only be released a few weeks later. The Saints gave him a shot last year and wound up signing him to a future/reserve contract towards the end of the 2014 season. However, he was unfortunately among their final roster coming last year.

In 2013, Charles appeared in 13 games and caught just a single pass for eight years.
