NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

  • Penn State CB Amani Oruwariye tells Alex Marvez that he take pre-draft visit to meet with the Eagles.
  • Delaware LB Troy Reeder earned an invite to the Eagles’ local workout day.  (Mike Kaye)

  • According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the view from some around the league is that WR Golden Tate is a solid fit for HC Pat Shurmur’s scheme, given Tate’s ability after the catch.
  • There was some concern about redundancy with WR Sterling Shepard.  Both Tate and Shepard are primarily slot receivers.
  • One scout called S Jabrill Peppers: “[A] functional replacement for [S Landon Collins].  He’s not as good a player as Collins. He might be a better athlete.”
  • The Giants are hoping a return to DC James Bettcher‘s scheme rejuvenates DE Markus Golden, who’s “tape was average,” according to one coach who watched him said.
  • Another coach said S Antoine Bethea would bring “leadership” to the back end of the defense even if he only had one or two seasons left.
  • New Giants DT Olsen Pierre seemed “ready to take off” when he had 5.5 sacks in 2017 playing for Bettcher in Arizona.
  • Delaware DB Nasir Adderley had a private meeting with the Giants following his pro day.  (Matt Lombardo
