NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Cowboys

Eagles

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Monday that the Eagles are looking to trade for Lions CB Darius Slay

“They’re taking a shot at Darius Slay of the Lions, but the price tag on Slay is very, very high,” Mortensen said, via SI.com.

  • According to Adam Caplan, the Eagles had been trying to acquire DE Genard Avery from the Browns for a while and beat out a few other teams for him.
  • Per the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, Eagles HC Doug Pederson said WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) would start to be incorporated back into practice this week and the team will see how he responds.
  • Eagles second-round rookie RB Miles Sanders said the X-rays on his shoulder came back “fine.” (Mike Garafolo)
  • Pederson added Sanders would be day-to-day in practice this week. (Zack Rosenblatt)

Giants

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins‘ name has come up as a potential option for the team to move before Tuesday afternoon’s trade deadline given his age, salary and uneven performance so far in 2019. However, Jenkins says his mind will be occupied Tuesday with other thoughts besides where he’ll be playing.

“Tuesday is my birthday,” Jenkins said, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. “I don’t give a f–- what they do. You feel me? I’m just coming to play football like I do every week. Whatever happens, it happens.”

  • Giants HC Pat Shurmur deflected questions about if the team was shopping Jenkins: “I guess he’s rumored to be moved all the time. I don’t know of any conversations to do that.” (Ralph Vacchiano)
  • According to the Athletic’s Connor Hughes, the Giants were the only team realistically in on bidding for former Jets DL Leonard Williams. The Cowboys also had some discussions but backed out after trading for DT Michael Bennett.
  • Giants hosted WR Alex Bachman for a visit. (Aaron Wilson)

Redskins

  • Per ESPN’s John Keim, Redskins interim HC Bill Callahan said QB Case Keenum was still in the concussion protocol.
  • NBC Sports’ JP Finlay says he’s been told LB Ryan Kerrigan is not on the trade block for the Redskins.
  • CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora says, however, he gets the sense the Redskins would listen to offers for Kerrigan and others, such as CB Josh Norman, though that deal would be more of a salary dump.
