NFC North Notes: Bears, Packers, Vikings

Bears

Bears second-year RB Tarik Cohen said new HC Matt Nagy has lined him up at several different positions during offseason practices.

I feel like if I could kick the football, he’d also want me to kick the football, too,” Cohen said, via the Jim Rome Show. “It just goes to show how many places he has me at. I’ve been everywhere. I’ve been at every position. It’s crazy.”

Packers

Packers OT Kyle Murphy is working his way back from a foot injury, but expects to be a full-go for the start of training camp next month.

“I’m just glad I pretty much checked all the boxes off before going into camp,” Murphy said, via Packers.com. “I didn’t want the first week or two to be slowly climbing. They said I’ll be full-go by camp.”

It’s possible that Murphy could be competing for a starting job this summer, considering that Bryan Bulaga is working his way back from a torn ACL.

“I think I proved I can play in this league on a big stage,” Murphy said. “Doing that under the lights with Aaron [Rodgers] back there the whole time will help ease your mind and make you that much more confident going forward.

“I have all the confidence in the world in myself to go out there and perform and be better than I was last time.”

Vikings

Vikings GM Rick Spielman told reporters on Wednesday that they still want to get long-term extensions in place for WR Stefon Diggs and OLB Anthony Barr after locking up DE Danielle Hunter.

“We want to keep all of our guys and we’ll try to see if there’s a way that we can do that because not only, those guys are very important to us and would love to get them locked up as well,” Spielman said, per Courtney Cronin.

Hunter noted the importance of getting the extension done before the start of training camp because he “didn’t want to be bothered by it” when preparing for the season, per Cronin.

We have Diggs and Barr featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
