NFL Officially Moves Steelers-Titans Game To Week 7

Update:

The NFL confirmed Friday that they’re moving the Steelers vs. Titans game to Week 7.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans game originally scheduled for Week 4 on Sunday, October 4, has been rescheduled for Week 7 on Sunday, October 25 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens game will move from Week 7 (October 25) to Week 8 on Sunday, November 1 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS.

“The Steelers and Titans now each have a Week 4 bye and the Ravens bye, originally set for Week 8, will now be in Week 7.”

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that as long as there are no positive tests from the Vikings following their Week 3 game against the Titans, the most likely scenario from the NFL is to move the Steelers vs. Titans game to Week 7.

From there, the NFL would move the Steelers vs. Ravens Week 7 content to Week 8.

The Steelers and Ravens are both on bye in Week 8 with the Titans’ bye scheduled for Week 7, which offers a solution that impacts just three teams.

Another proposed idea was to create a Week 18 for any games that can’t be played on schedule. However, it appears as though the NFL’s priority is to try to get the games played within the current 17-week format.

It’s unfortunate for the Steelers, considering that they were preparing for their Week 4 matchup and will now have to play 13 straight weeks without a bye.

Even so, Steelers HC Mike Tomlin made it clear Thursday that this isn’t something they’re worried about.

The Titans are dealing with a serious outbreak after another player and a personnel member tested positive Thursday. This brings the total to five Titans players and seven coaches/staffers to test positive since last Friday.

We’ll have more regarding scheduling changes as the news is available.
