NFL Notes: Bears, Seahawks, Texans

Bears

  • Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that Bears fourth-round S Eddie Jackson is likely to open training camp as “odds-on favorite” to return punts for Chicago this season.
  • Finley adds that the Bears will likely get fourth-round RB Tarik Cohen seventh-round WR Daniel Braverman involved as return options as well.

Seahawks

  • Spike Lee congratulated Colin Kaepernick earlier — and has since deleted — for signing with the Seahawks .
  • However, Jason La Canfora and Mike Florio both report that this is not accurate and nothing is currently imminent between the Seahawks and Kaepernick, despite his recent visit to Seattle.

Texans

Texans star DE J.J. Watt mentioned that the team’s decision to promote Mike Vrabel to defensive coordinator has been “very good” thus far.

“It’s been very good,” Watt said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I think it’s great. I think I’ve said all along, to have a guy like Mike come in who is so knowledgeable and so experienced is great. It’s very good for us.

“But then also to have RAC out there every single day and still coaching and teaching guys – to have two defensive minds like that, and then with the assistant coaches that we have, we are very fortunate.
