NFL Notes: Buccaneers, Colts, Patriots

Buccaneers

Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston addressed the recent report that there’s tension between him and HC Dirk Koetter.

“It does concern me that something like that would come out. Am I surprised? Of course not,” Winston said, per Rick Stroud. “When you lose, people are always trying to find something to nitpick and nag at, and definitely attacking the relationship of a head coach and a quarterback is a way to get this locker room in a panic. We don’t condone that at all.”

Colts

  • Ben Volin of the Boston Globe writes that the Colts are expected to clean house in regards to their coaching staff.
  • Volin mentions that while GM Chris Ballard “loves” Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub, owner Jim Irsay may want a “sexier hire.”
  • According to Volin, Ballard has been picking Jacoby Brissett’s brain about Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.

Patriots

Patriots WR Danny Amendola said he’s feeling “really good” and is excited about the future.

“I feel really good. I’m really excited about how I feel — mentally, physically — and I’m excited about the future,” said Amendola, who will be an unrestricted free agent next year, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Amendola added that he’s thought about how much longer he wants to continue his NFL career. However, his focus remains on the 2017 season right now.

It’s been in the back of my mind, but really just solely trying to be focused on the task at hand, and like I said at the beginning of the season, of really having fun and embracing the guys in the locker room, my friends, and playing good football,” Amendola said.
