NFL Notes: Cowboys, Jets, Rams, & Redskins



  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys’ starting running back job is Joseph Randle’s to lose. Dallas expects “big things” and “love his vision and explosiveness.
  • Despite being a year removed from back surgery, Rapoport still expects the Cowboys to hold QB Tony Romo out of practice on Wednesdays.
  • Cowboys HC Jason Garrett told reporters that they’ve had some “back and forth” with DE Jeremy Mincey, who is holding out for a new contract. (Charean Williams)


  • Jets second-round WR Devin Smith suffered broken ribs during Friday’s practice and is expected to miss most of training camp.


  • Rams first-round RB Todd Gurley was able to participate in some individual drills Friday, but there’s still no timetable for a full return. (Nick Wagoner)
