NFL Notes: Jarvis Landry, Joe Hawley, Draft

Jarvis Landry

  • Charles Robinson reports that NFL teams have no indication from the Dolphins regarding their asking price for WR Jarvis Landry in terms of a potential trade.
  • A report surfaced on Saturday that the Bears and Dolphins discussed Jordan Howard in a potential trade for Landry, but Robinson says that this came off like an attempt by Miami to stimulate offers.

Joe Hawley

The Buccaneers recently informed veteran C Joe Hawley that they were not going to be picking up his $2.5-million option for the 2018 season and he will be allowed to test the free agent market this offseason.

In an appearance on iHeartRadio on Friday morning, Hawley interesting mentioned that he has dropped 40 pounds since the end of the season and said he’s going to get rid of everything he owns to travel and blog about his experience.

When the season was over, I was thinking about what I wanted to do next, because I know my career is coming to a close,” Hawley said, via Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. “So I decided I’m going to get rid of everything I own, give it away to charity, families in need. I bought a van recently and I’m going to move into this van, travel the country and live out of it.

If Hawley is really down 40 pounds right now, it could be difficult for him to get in shape in time for the start of the 2018 season. With Hawley also admitting that his career is “coming to a close”, it seems like retirement could be a real option for him this offseason.

Draft

On Sunday, UCF LB Shaquem Griffin posted an extremely impressive forty time of 4.38, despite 227 lbs. Charles Robinson spoke to one evaluator who said that Griffin could end up being a late third-round or early fourth-round pick this year and likely start out on special teams and in defensive sub packages.

  • Charles Robinson has heard from a couple of teams that UCLA QB Josh Rosen impressed teams in interviews and didn’t come off as being scripted or rehearsed as they anticipated. Robinson adds that teams were happy with his attitude and honesty about his flaws.
