NFL Notes: Josh Allen, Antonio Callaway, Billy Price, Draft

Josh Allen

Wyoming QB Josh Allen made it clear that he wants to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and would be excited to help turn the Browns around.

Yeah, it would mean that I’m going to Cleveland,” Allen said, via Pro Football Talk. “My biggest interest of being the No. 1 pick, obviously the pressure that comes along with that, I would love to have that pressure on my shoulders because I’ve always thrived in those situations, and I feel like Cleveland would be a great spot to be. But if I’m not, I’m not, and I’m going to do whatever I can to help the team that actually picks me and actually wants me so we’ll go from there.”

Antonio Callaway

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Florida WR Antonio Callaway confirmed with his agent, Malki Kawa, that his drug test sample at the NFL Combine came back diluted. Callaway has reportedly told those close to him that he over-hydrated and plans to address this issue with teams
  • Adam Schefter reports that Callaway tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Combine.

Billy Price

Ohio State OL Billy Price mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio on Monday that his torn pec is “doing excellent.

“Pec is doing excellent and I was with my doctor last week,” Price said. “Seven weeks tomorrow from injury. I got full range of motion and I got to finally bench a 10-pound dumbbell today so it is a big day for me personally.”

Draft

  • Regarding Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, Peter Schrager reports that a “majority” of his sources believe the quarterback prospect will be a top-five pick on Thursday.
  • One NFL Scout tells Schrager that “one or two” receivers could be drafted in the first round: “Want to know why a Sammy Watkins goes for 16 million? An Allen Robinson gets 14 million? Look at this year’s wide receiver draft class.”
  • Schrager reports that the Giants are “most likely” to decide between Penn State RB Saquon Barkley or N.C. State DE Bradley Chubb at No. 2 overall, while there is “a lot of pressure” to draft Barkley.
  • However, Schrager adds that “many around the league” expect new Giants GM Dave Gettleman to select a pass rusher since he drafted players like Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short, Kony Ealy, and Vernon Butler with Carolina.
  • Notre Dame LT Mike McGlinchey is expected to be the first offensive tackle to be drafted and will “likely” be a top-15 pick. (Peter Schrager)
  • Arizona State RB Kalen Ballage said he took pre-draft visits with Jets, Bills, Patriots, Colts, and Lions, and also had private workouts with the Chiefs and Seahawks. (Alex Marvez)
