Panthers Sign CB Javien Elliott, Waive G Brendan Mahon

According to Mike Garafolo, the Panthers are signing CB Javien Elliott to the roster.

The Panthers announced they released G Brendan Mahon to make space for Elliott on the 90-man roster.

Elliott, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State back in 2016. He played out his rookie contract and was in line to be a restricted free agent before reaching an agreement on a new deal worth less than the original-round tender.

Tampa Bay released him at the end of the preseason before later signing him to the practice squad. Elliott bounced on and off the Buccaneers practice squad throughout the 2018 season.

In 2018, Elliott recorded 24 total tackles, one interception and one pass defense through 15 games.
