Ian Rapoport reports that Patriots K Nick Folk recently underwent an appendectomy that will sideline him for Week 13. Rapoport explains that this was a laparoscopically procedure that’s considered minimally invasive.
The good news is that he should be back next week, but it still means the Patriots will need to sign a kicker for the time being.
Folk, 35, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2007. He spent over two years in Dallas before he signed on with the Jets in 2010 as a free agent.
Folk was entering the final year of his four-year, $12 million contract that included $2.1 million guaranteed when the Jets released him. He spent last year with the Buccaneers before signing on with the Patriots a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Folk has appeared in three games for the Patriots and converted 7 of 9 field goal attempts (77.8 percent) to go along with all three extra point tries.
