Ravens Sign S Tony Jefferson To Four-Year, $34M Deal

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Ravens expected to sign Cardinals free agent S Tony Jefferson, barring any last-minute negotiating snags.

  • Albert Breer reports that Jefferson receives a four-year $34 million contract that includes $19 million fully guaranteed over the first two years. The Ravens have team options in 2019 and 2020.

Jefferson reportedly had interest from the Browns and Jets, but the Ravens were clearly focused on getting him under contract and even shed some salary earlier in the day to make it happen.

The addition of Jefferson gives the Ravens a very impressive tandem along with Eric Weddle.

Jefferson, 25, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2013. He returned to the Cardinals on a one-year, $1.671 million restricted tender last April.

In 2016, Jefferson appeared in 15 games for the Cardinals and recorded 96 tackles, two sacks, two recoveries, two forced fumbles and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 safety out of 89 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
