Report: Falcons Not Presently Interested In CB Brandon Flowers

An organizational source told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that the Falcons are not presently interested in free agent CB Brandon Flowers, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter.

This report comes just days after Atlanta was named as one of ten teams linked to Flowers in a report by Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

The two reports can be reconciled however, though that would call for some speculation.  It is possible though that Atlanta has reached out to Flowers, but ultimately decided they were not a fit.

Whether Flowers is indeed a fit in Atlanta is debatable.  Atlanta released CB Asante Samuel this offseason, showing faith in their first and second-round draft picks in 2013- CB Desmond Trufant and CB Robert Alford respectively.  Both showed well as rookies, and Flowers’ presence may only stunt their growth.

The Falcons currently have an estimated $9,081,024 million of cap space according to OverTheCap.com.  Flowers would likely take up the majority of that space.

Last season, Flowers appeared in 13 games and totaled 68 tackles, one sack, an interceptions and seven pass defenses for the Chiefs.

We have Flowers listed as the No. 1 player in our recently updated Top 50 – Best Available Free Agents list.
