Here Are The Messages Sent By G Richie Incognito To Jonathan Martin

Update:

———

Jason La Canfora reports that texts sent from Dolphins G Richie Incognito refers to OT Jonathan Martin as a “half-n*****,” according to a source who was privy to the communication.

  • La Canfora mentions that Incognito also made reference to tracking down members of Martin’s family and harming them in the texts.
  • La Canfora adds there are several other instances of threats and disturbing exchanges, which includes one in which Incognito refers to defecating in Martin’s mouth.
  • The Dolphins can only suspend Incognito a maximum of four weeks for conduct detrimental to the team, according to La Canfora.

Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network reports that Miami Dolphins HC Joe Philbin informed G Richie Incognito that he has been suspended indefinitely while the league investigates the situation that led to OT Jonathan Martin leaving the team.

  • Mike Garafolo Fox Sports reports that Martin’s camp alleges that Incognito left threatening and racially charged messages, which Martin has in his possession.
  • Garafolo adds that Martin’s allegations would make this a “hate crime.”

The Dolphins have since confirmed Incognito’s suspension in another statement released.

“We received notification today from Jonathan’s representation about allegations of player misconduct. We are taking these allegations very seriously and plan to review the matter further. We have also reached out to the NFL and asked them to conduct an objective and thorough review. As an organization, we are committed to a culture of team-first accountability and respect for one another.”

Incognito has maintained his innocence all along, but it appears as though he was more involved in the circumstances that led to Martin’s departure than he was letting on.

We’ll have more as the news is available.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Dolphins OT Jonathan Martin is not comfortable returning the team until there are drastic changes to the team’s locker room situation.

Meanwhile, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen (via Pro Football Talk) are reporting that Martin hasn’t accused anyone of bullying or harassment due to fears of possible retribution from G Richie Incognito.

According to Schefter, Incognito intimidated Martin into contributing $15,000 towards a trip for the Dolphins offensive lineman, despite the fact that he ultimately did not go with them. Schefter adds that there are text messages and voice mails that backup Martin’s concerns.

Incognito has denied the allegations and even gone as far to say that he wants his name cleared in the matter. The Dolphins intend to place Martin on the non-football illness list, so it’s unclear if he’ll return to the team at any point this season.
