Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that the New England Patriots are considering the possibility of placing rookie DE Dominique Easley on season-ending injured reserve, which would allow him to get healthy for the 2015 season.
Sources tell Howe that this isn’t as much about a setback for Easley as it’s a way for them to hit the “reset button” on their young defensive lineman and protect their investment.
During his final year at Florida, Easley suffered a torn right ACL and has reportedly been playing catch-up all season.
Easley, 22, has been limited to appearing 11 games this season and recording 9 tackles, one sack, and an interception. This season, Easley has played a total of 270 snaps and has a poor rating of -4.1, according to Pro Football Focus.
