Report: Raiders Hire Broncos DC Dennis Allen

Jay Glazer reports that the Oakland Raiders have hired Broncos DC Dennis Allen as their next head coach.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie told reporters that it wasn’t a done deal yet but I guess he only needed a few hours to make his decision.

Glazer adds that Allen has already informed the Broncos.

As soon as you think the Raiders are making progress towards finding their next head coach, Reggie McKenzie comes out and says that signing Broncos DC Dennis Allen is  “not a lock, irregardless of other people’s reports.”

McKenzie also denies that the Raiders have begun negotiations with Allen but mentions that they Allen’s second interview could get him the job.

He could [lock it up],” McKenzie said, via CSN Bay Area. “Depends. He’s got a lot of stuff he needs to answer.”

The Raiders are really dragging this out. Hopefully, Oakland will make a decision in the near future.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Raiders are negotiating a contract with Broncos DC Dennis Allen to be their next head coach.

It was previously believed that new Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie was going to bring one of the Packers coaches along with him but Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has reported that both Winston Moss and Dom Capers are out of the running for the job. Along with them, Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg and Saints OC Pete Carmichael have been informed that they are no longer being considered either.

Allen could be in place as the team’s next head coach as soon as this weekend. We’ll have more updates as they’re available.
