Saints DE Marcus Davenport Expected To Undergo Season-Ending Foot Surgery

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Saints DE Marcus Davenport suffered a “significant” foot injury during Sunday’s game against the 49ers and is now expected to undergo season-ending surgery.

The Saints worked out some pass rushers on Tuesday including Noah Spence and Shane Ray, so roster moves are likely coming.

Davenport, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2018. The Saints traded up with the Packers and parted with a future first-round pick to select him.

Davenport is in the second year of his four-year, $13,791,272 contract that included an $8,110,016 signing bonus. The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Saints to pick up in 2021.

In 2019, Davenport appeared in 13 games for the Saints and recorded 31 tackles, six sacks, and three forced fumbles.
