Saints Sign DT Ziggy Hood

According to Mike Garafolo, the Saints are signing DT Evander Hood ahead of training camp.

Hood bolsters the Saints depth at defensive tackle, as the team will start without DT David Onyemata following a one-week suspension. Star DT Sheldon Rankins is also recovering from an Achilles injury.

Hood, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Steelers back in 2009. He played out his rookie contract with the Steelers before signing a four-year agreement with the Jaguars in March of 2014.

Hood lasted over a year and a half in Jacksonville before signing on with the Bears during the 2015 season.

After the year was out, the Redskins signed Hood to a future/reserve contract for the 2016 season. Washington later re-signed him to a two-year, $2.7 million contract.

However, Washington elected to cut him loose midway through the 2018 season. Hood caught on with the Dolphins and finished out the year.

In 2018, Hood appeared in five games for the Redskins and eight games for the Dolphins. He totaled nine tackles, no sacks and one pass defense.
