Teams Showing Trade Interest In Vikings CBs Xavier Rhodes & Trae Waynes

Albert Breer hears that teams have been calling the Vikings about potential trades for CBs Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes.

According to Breer, the Vikings are not giving either of these players away in trades, but he wonders if they could be had for the right price.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports previously reported that the Vikings were shopping Waynes in trade talks at the Scouting Combine.

The free agent cornerback market is pretty limited this year, so it’s possible a team could step up and offer the Vikings an appealing deal for one of their cornerbacks.

Rhodes, 28, was taken with the No. 25 overall pick in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $7.402 million rookie contract when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option.

Rhodes later agreed to a six-year, $78.126 million extension with $41 million guaranteed back in 2017. He stands to make base salaries of $10,400,000 and $9,900,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Rhodes would free up $6,137,500 of available cap space while creating $7.2 million in dead money.

In 2018, Rhodes appeared in 14 games for the Vikings and recorded 47 tackles, one interception and seven pass defenses.

Waynes, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Michigan State by the Vikings in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $12.944 million rookie contract when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option last year.

Waynes stands to make a base salary of $9,069,000 for the 2019 season under his fifth-year option.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Waynes would free up $9,069,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2018, Waynes appeared in 14 games for the Vikings and recorded 44 tackles, one interception, and eight pass defenses.
