Texans CB Kareem Jackson Says He’d “Love” To Re-Sign With Houston

Texans CB Kareem Jackson, who is in the final year of his contract, has put together an impressive 2018 season and says he would “definitely love” to be back in Houston next year.

“I would definitely love that,” Jackson said, via the Houston Chronicle. “For me, this is home now. I’ve raised a family here with my wife. I would definitely love to be here.

“There’s always that thought with it being the last year of my deal. At the end of the day, I can only control what I can control and be consistent in how I play.”

Jackson should be in line for a solid contract next year, given the fact that he’s put together a great season up to this point and will be one of the best available cornerbacks in the free agent market.

Jackson, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2010. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $34 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and will make a base salary of $6.5 million in 2018.

Jackson is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Jackson has appeared in eight games for the Texans and has recorded 47 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a recovery and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 cornerback out of 110 qualifying players.
