Texans Releasing S Tyvis Powell, Re-Signing S A.J. Hendy

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are releasing S Tyvis Powell and re-signing S A.J. Hendy to a contract on Saturday.

Powell, 25, signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State in 2016. He was in the first year of a three-year, $1.62 million contract when Seattle decided to waive him.

The Browns later claimed him off of waivers but cut him loose soon after. From there, Powell played for the Colts, Seahawks, 49ers and Jets. The Texans just recently signed him to a contract.

In 2018, Powell appeared in seven games for the 49ers and recorded six tackles and a forced fumble.
