Texans Roster Cuts Including DT Louis Nix

Update:

McClain adds that the Texans have waived Hard Knocks star CB Charles James.

As of now, the Texans have parted ways with:

This is a very surprising move from Texans, given that they drafted him just a year ago.

Nix, 24, is entering the second year of his four-year, $2,852,252 rookie contract that included a $575,252 signing bonus. He was set to make base salaries of $530,000 (2015), $620,000 (2016),  and $710,000 (2018) over the remainder of the contract.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Nix will free up $530,000 in cap space while creating $143,813 in dead money.

Nix didn’t appear in a single game during the entire 2014 season for the Texans.
