Titans “Especially Curious” About Fresno State QB Derek Carr

According to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennesseean, the Titans “seem especially curious” about Fresno State QB Derek Carr.

  • Wyatt mentions that Carr visited with the team earlier this month and the Titans sent OC Jason Michael and QBs coach John McNulty to Fresno, California to work him out.
  • Wyatt adds that the Titans also spent time meeting with Carr at both the Senior Bowl and the NFL combine.

All indications are that the Titans will not be picking up QB Jake Locker‘s fifth-year option as that would run them a staggering $14.666 million for the 2015 season. With that in mind, Locker is entering a make-or-break season with Tennessee, so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that they could come away with a new quarterback prospect this year.

It’s pretty tough to pin point where Carr is likely to come off the board. Some have connected the Raiders and Browns to Carr, but it seems unlikely that he would be taken with either the No. 4 or 5 overall picks.

The Titans are currently sitting at No. 11 overall, so they could be in a good position to land one of the top quarterbacks at that point. Then again, that seems a little early for them to address the position.

We have Carr going to the Texans in the second-round of our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
