Vikings Claim CB Chris Jones, Promote CB Mark Fields II

The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday that they’ve claimed CB Chris Jones off of waivers and promoted CB Mark Fields II to their active roster.

Jones, 25, wound up signing on with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska back in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Lions but was waived coming out of the preseason.

Jones later signed to the Cardinals’ practice squad and was signed to the active roster late in 2018. He was on and off the roster in 2019 before being waived coming out of camp this year and re-signed to the practice squad.

The Lions signed Jones to their active roster before waiving him last week.

In 2019, Jones appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals and recorded 14 total tackles, no sacks or interceptions and six pass defenses.
