Vikings Re-Sign LB Chad Greenway To A One-Year, $2.75M Deal

Update:

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they’ve re-signed veteran LB Chad Greenway to a one-year deal on Monday.

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Vikings re-signing veteran LB Chad Greenway is considered imminent and a deal will be done as early as tomorrow.

  • Tom Pelissero reports that Greenway receives a one-year, $2.75 million deal with $750,000 guaranteed.

Indications have been that a return to Minnesota was a possibility for Greenway, and it sounds like the two parties have managed to work out an agreement that should allow him to finish his career out in Minnesota.

Greenway, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2006 and has spent all nine years of his career in Minnesota. He finished out his five-year, $40.6 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Greenway recorded 68 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown and a pass defense over the course of all 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 33 outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense out of 35 qualifying players.
