Vikings Signing CB Bene Benwikere, Waive CB Terrence Alexander

Update:

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they have officially signed veteran CB Bene Benwikere and waived CB Terrence Alexander to make room for him.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Vikings are signing veteran CB Bene Benwikere to a contract on Saturday.

The Vikings had brought in some cornerbacks in recent days for tryouts, so they were clearly looking for some help at the position.

Benwikere, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He’s was in the third year of his four-year, $2.419 million contract when the Panthers cut him loose during the 2016 season.

Benewikere had brief stints with the Dolphins and Packers before he signed a futures contract with the Bengals in 2017. Cincinnati later traded him to the Cowboys for a conditional 2019 sixth-round pick.

Benewikere signed on with the Cardinals last year before eventually joining the Raiders to close out the 2018 season.

In 2018, Benwikere has appeared in 15 games for the Cardinals and Raiders and recorded 54 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
