49ers Designate LB Kwon Alexander To Return From Injured Reserve

The 49ers have designated LB Kwon Alexander to return from injured reserve by returning him to practice, per Matt Barrows.

This officially opens a window as long as three weeks for the 49ers to activate Alexander to the roster. He was placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle at the beginning of November.

Barrows adds Alexander was in a non-contact jersey at practice Thursday. Previous reports have said if San Francisco makes it to the NFC Championship Game, that could give Alexander enough time to return to play.

Alexander, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,758,320 contract before agreeing to a four-year contract worth $54 million with the 49ers in 2019.

In 2019, Alexander appeared in eight games for the 49ers and recorded 34 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
