AFC East Rumors: Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Patriots

Bills

  • Mike Rodak reports that the Bills have tendered a contract to exclusive-rights free agent DE Eddie Yarbrough for the 2019 season.
  • According to Rodak, the Bills are not expected to tender exclusive rights free agent P Matt Darr, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Dolphins

  • Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins haven’t told Minkah Fitzpatrick whether he will play safety or cornerback this season, but their preference is for him to be a full-time safety long-term.
  • Jackson says that the Dolphins are weighing whether or not to keep veteran RB Frank Gore, but he intends to continue his career regardless.
  • Armando Salguero reports that the Dolphins have “engaged” the Redskins about a potential trade for QB Ryan Tannehill. However, Salguero says that the “trade talks” are mostly the Dolphins letting teams know Tannehill is available.

Jets

  • Connor Hughes of the Athletic says that Jets will also be in the market for receiver help and Cole Beasley, Donte Moncrief and Danny Amendola, assuming he’s released by the Dolphins, are both worth watching.
  • Regarding the possibility of the Jets pursuing a trade for Bengals WR A.J. Green, a league source tells Hughes that it’s “highly, highly unlikely” Cincinnati moves him.
  • The Jets are also expected to move on from WR Jermaine Kearse, according to Hughes.
  • Hughes reports that the Jets have expressed interest in Rams G Rodger Saffold
  • Based on what he hears at the Combine, Brian Costello of the New York Post mentions that the Jets may try to fill their edge rusher need in free agency with Dante Fowler, Trey Flowers and Ezekiel Ansah being names to keep an eye on.
  • A source who knows Jets GM Mike Maccagnan tells Costello that New York really wants to get back into the second round of this year’s draft, which further implies they could be a trade-down candidate at No. 3 overall.
  • Costello says the Jets would like to upgrade the middle of their offensive line with Rams G Rodger Saffold, Broncos C Matt Paradis and Chiefs C Mitch Morse being possible options for them.
  • Peter King could see the Jets offer Patriots free agent DE Trey Flowers $17 million a year as part of a long-term deal.
  • Ralph Vacchiano reports that the Jets are tendering exclusive rights free agent RB De’Angelo Henderson.

Patriots

  • ESPN’s Mike Reiss says TE Rob Gronkowski continues to be a regular at Gillette Stadium, which is a departure from the 2018 offseason where he was rarely seen at the facility.
  • Ben Volin of the Boston Globe writes that Browns LB Jamie Collins, who is a release candidate, is worth watching for the Patriots, as a reunion would make some sense.
