AFC North Notes: Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Steelers

Bengals

  • According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Bengals WR A.J. Green will seek additional opinions on his sprained left ankle. 
  • An MRI revealed Green has torn ligaments projected to keep him out six to eight weeks. Breer adds the hope is to avoid surgery.
  • Bengals CB Darius Phillips passed his physical and is expected to be activated from the PUP. (Ben Baby)

Browns

  • According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Browns QB Baker Mayfield received a $1,395,590 roster bonus on Sunday. 
  • ESPN’s Josina Anderson says she was told Browns RB Duke Johnson “could miss some time” with the hamstring injury he suffered Saturday. 
  • Browns co-owner Dee Haslam said RB Kareem Hunt bears the burden of proving he deserves his second chance: “He has to work really hard to be part of our organization. It’s up to him” (Mary Kay Cabot)
  • Browns co-owner Jimmy Haslam said the team is still in discussions with the NFL to allow Hunt to serve his eight-game suspension with the team. (Nate Ulrich)

Ravens

  • Per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Ravens OC Greg Roman told reporters the team is looking at free-agent quarterback’s following QB Robert Griffin‘s injury: “It’s my understanding that our personnel staff is working to bring in another quarterback in the near future.”
  • The Ravens only have two healthy quarterbacks on the roster, including Lamar Jackson and sixth-round rookie Trace McSorley.
  • According to the Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens could be interested in QB Josh Johnson. 

Steelers

  • According to the Athletic’s Ed Bouchette, Steelers CB Joe Haden‘s agent Drew Rosenhaus was in town to discuss an extension with the team. 
  • Haden is entering the final year of his contract in 2019.
