AFC Notes: Broncos, Raiders, Titans

Broncos

Broncos HC Vance Joseph said that third-round RB Royce Freemanabsolutely” has a chance to be the team’s starting running back to open the 2018 season.

“I think I showed durability and the ability to be there game in, game out,” Freeman said, via ESPN.com. “I think I showed at Oregon I can deliver the blow as a runner. I’m excited to compete, and we have a good environment in the running back room. I think we do want to see each other do well.

Raiders

Raiders HC Jon Gruden singled out first-round OT Kolton Miller as someone who stood out to him during offseason workouts.

“Kolton Miller,” Gruden said, via the Sacramento Bee. “Been impressed with Miller.”

Raiders OL coach Tom Cable also spoke highly of Miller.

“(The setting is) not too big for him,” Cable said. “He’s looked just fine. He’s put an exclamation point on our choosing of him.

“What I saw in him was a lot of really good characteristics of a left tackle. He’s very athletic. He’s very smart. “He has a quiet toughness about him that has shown up a lot. His consistency already as a young player in spring football has been amazing.

Titans

New Titans HC Mike Vrabel admitted that he’s not sure he’ll ever be truly confident as a head coach.

“I don’t know as a coach if I’ll ever be truly confident,” Vrabel said, via PaulKuharsky.com. “I have confidence in all our players on our roster right now, but I don’t know if that’s something you would always say as a head coach, that you’re just going to be confident that we’re going to roll out and win a game.”
